Over the last three months, the Icon Singapore team have been getting on their bikes and hitting the road in support of cancer patients in this year’s Cycle for Hope event.

Cycle for Hope organised by Singapore Cycling Federation (SCF) has been running the campaign since 2022 to raise funds for Singapore Cancer Society (SCS). SCS is a not-for-profit organisation whose mission is to minimise cancer and maximise lives through effective programs that support patients and their families. Icon Cancer Centre Singapore were proud silver sponsors of the event. Icon ASEAN CEO, Serena Wee shares the importance of partnering with patient advocacy groups and participating in fundraising events.

“We’re proud to support the efforts of SCS and work alongside them to improve cancer care and the overall patient experience,” said Serena.

“Helping raise funds and participate in events like Cycle for Hope is just one way we can give back and continue our commitment to the community and most importantly, assist cancer patients throughout their journey.”

On 11 August, Serena and members of the Icon Singapore team attended the Cycle for Hope Campaign cheque presentation and groundbreaking ceremony of The Bricks: Sport in Precinct & Cycle Park. The event was attended by Mr Gan Kim Yong, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Trade and Industry, Grassroots Adviser to Chua Chu Kang GRC GROs (Chua Chu Kang); Mr Baey Yam Keng, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, Patron SCF Cycle for Hope Fund Raising Campaign; Mr Don Wee, Grassroots Adviser to Chua Chu Kang GRC GROs (Brickland); Mr Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim, Grassroots Adviser to Chua Chu Kang GRC GROs (Keat Hong), as well as Dr Hing Siong Chen, President, Singapore Cycling Federation (SCF).

The Icon Singapore team completed a total of 2,350km and raised $2,660 over the campaign period. These efforts reflect Icon Group’s commitment to supporting the communities we care for and partnering with like-minded organisations to deliver holistic, comprehensive cancer care to more people.

“This event also provided a great opportunity to highlight Icon’s culture; we’re a values-driven organisation who care about our people and communities. It was also a wonderful opportunity for our teams to connect outside of work and exercise together for a worthy cause,” said Serena.
