Icon is proud to be part of this year’s International Hospital Federation’s World Hospital Congress with both speaker representation and recognition in the i-to-i Innovation Hub.

i-to-i Innovation Hub

Icon’s Global Agile Radiation Therapy (ART) tool will be showcased at the Innovation Hub which recognises innovations from around the world that are changing and enhancing how hospital leaders provide hospital care.

What is ART?

ART leverages Icon’s global network of cancer centres and radiation therapists to share workloads across 35+ sites across Australia and Singapore, streamlining workflows and increasing efficiencies to deliver more care to more people, closer to home.

ART addresses the healthcare workforce crisis by enabling resource-sharing across Icon’s global network, mitigating burnout and human errors that arise from siloed operations. By redistributing available time from sites with capacity to those in need, we enhance care delivery closer to home, particularly in smaller, underserved and regional areas. This approach not only reduces the volatility of workloads at individual sites, managing staff risk of burnout, but also improves patient care, efficiencies, and quality.

Enabling best care, at scale

Group Director of Radiation Therapy, Stephanie Price said this initiative has increased overall quality and efficiencies.

“This initiative enabled a more flexible, responsive staffing model, reduced strain on individual sites, and enhanced overall service delivery,” Stephanie said.

“By maintaining treatment schedules consistently, we’ve improved patient outcomes, time-to-treatment, and staff morale, including more time for professional development.”

ART’s potential for broader adoption is substantial, offering a viable solution to global challenges in healthcare resource management.

Icon Group’s Executive Manager – Clinical Care, Trent Aland is attending the World Hospital Congress and will be available to connect at the i-to-i hub and via the conference app. We look forward to showcasing ART and providing solutions to global healthcare workforce shortages.

Digital transformation

Icon Group’s Chief Operating Officer for Pharmacy, Russell Hill is also speaking at the Day 1 session: Beyond hospital walls: redefining care delivery models. Russell will share Icon’s digital pharmacy audit program which delivers a sustainable quality assurance framework across a diverse range of private and public hospital pharmacy services.

This program facilitates consistency to medicines management across a disparate pharmacy network that spans six States and Territories across Australia and now includes approximately 70 hospital pharmacy departments of varying size and acuity.

Russell is looking forward to joining healthcare professionals from across the world to explore the success of integrated digital solutions with widespread application for hospitals and beyond.

“Our pharmacy audit program has seen year-on-year quality improvements and demonstrates a strong commitment to quality and patient safety,” said Russell.

“It’s been praised by our hospital partners and has also proved scalable, having been recently piloted in one of Icon’s Singapore centres.

“I look forward to representing Icon’s pharmacy services at the World Hospital Congress and learning from likeminded organisations on how we can continue to embed digital solutions in healthcare.”
