The recent 49th IHF World Hospital Congress in Seoul was a highlight of another year of partnership between Icon Oncology Group and the International Hospital Federation (IHF), and a reminder that the best care possible starts with connection and a willingness to share and learn.

Across the Congress week, Icon Oncology Group leaders contributed as speakers, chairs, facilitators and innovators, sharing perspectives on technology, cancer care, women’s health, leadership and sustainable health systems.

“We’re proud of our partnership with the IHF. The annual Congress is an important reminder that the best care possible starts with connection, and a willingness to share, learn and improve together.” – Mark Middleton OAM, CEO, Icon Oncology Group

Showcasing innovation

Icon Oncology Group was selected as a finalist in the IHF i-to-i Innovation Hub 2026.

The Group’s Global Director of Radiation Therapy, Nigel Anderson, delivered an Innovation Ignite presentation showcasing our world-leading approach to AI-enabled adaptive radiation oncology.

The Group is leveraging this latest technology to support more informed clinical reviews and enable a more consistent and efficient approach to adaptive treatment across its global network.

Exploring the future of cancer care

Commercial & Global Services CEO Tracey Fyvie and Icon Cancer Centre AU/NZ CEO Paul Fenton participated in the IHF Cancer Leadership Network workshop.

The interactive session brought healthcare leaders together to contribute to a global exchange on the leadership, innovation and operational priorities shaping the future of cancer care.

Tracey also presented a session examining the role of private healthcare working alongside public healthcare to strengthen overall health system performance, including its contribution to access, innovation, efficiency and quality in delivering better patient outcomes.

Her key message that “great care doesn’t come from isolated excellence” resonated deeply with the audience.

Building sustainable healthcare

Dominique also chaired a session exploring financial sustainability through value, workforce and operational transformation.

The session considered approaches including value-based care, workforce redesign, operational transformation and service innovation, with a focus on strengthening financial performance while maintaining or improving patient outcomes.

A year of partnership

Throughout 2026, the IHF partnership has created opportunities to share our expertise, learn from global peers and contribute to conversations helping to shape the future of cancer care and health systems.

A premier associate member since 2024, and now a collaborative sponsor of the Women in Leadership SIG, the Group is part of a 25,000 strong international community of hospital and health system leaders. Our involvement this year has spanned cancer care leadership, scientific programme development and innovation, with the Congress a focal point of our of participation.

As part of our collaboration with the Women in Leadership SIG, Executive Medical Director Dr Penny Kechagioglou, Director of Nursing Margie Hjorth and Radiation Oncologist Dr Dominique Lee developed and led quarterly online forums throughout the year, exploring prevention and screening, wellbeing, and approaches to improving outcomes for underserved women.

Connecting globally

Together, the team’s involvement throughout the year has enabled the Group to share experiences from across its international network while learning alongside healthcare leaders from around the world. It demonstrates the value of connecting across organisations, disciplines and borders to exchange knowledge and strengthen healthcare for patients and communities.

Thank you to the IHF for a partnership that supports our mission of bringing the best care possible, closer to home for more people, and for creating opportunities to connect global healthcare leaders, share ideas and support positive change across health systems.
