Shortlisting

The shortlisting process is designed to identify the most suitable candidates based on their responses to the application requirements. The steps involved are as follows:

  1. Screening: All applications are reviewed to ensure they meet the basic eligibility criteria, including submission of required documents such as cover letter, resume, academic transcript, and written responses to specified questions. If you are missing documents, or don’t meet the criteria, you may be asked to provide additional information or resubmit your application.
  2. Document review: Each application is carefully evaluated. The cover letters and resumes are assessed for relevant experience, skills, and achievements. The academic transcript is reviewed to verify academic excellence. Written responses to the questions are analysed for clarity, relevance, and depth of insight.
  3. Shortlisting: Applications are ranked based on the quality of the application and the preferred work location. Depending on the number of available positions, those ranked higher will proceed to the next stage.
  4. Notification: Candidates are notified and invited to process to the next stage of the selection process. Those not shortlisted are also informed, with feedback provided where possible.
Interview

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a panel interview, either in person or via video conferencing. This is an opportunity for us to get to know you better and for you to understand our organisation, and your sponsor centre better – so come prepared to ask us questions.

You may be asked behavioural, situational, or technical questions. Please come prepared to answer questions clearly, concisely, and in a structured manner. The STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) is often a good way to present your answers.

After the interview, the panel will evaluate your performance. Feedback will be provided, and successful candidates will progress to the next stage.

Pre-offer checks

Before extending a formal training agreement, we will conduct a series of final pre-offer checks to ensure that you meet the necessary requirements. These checks include:

  • Reference checks: We will contact the professional references you provided to verify your previous employment, performance, and suitability for a scholarship and future employment.
  • Enrolment verification: We will contact your university to ensure that you are enrolled and have no outstanding disciplinary actions that could affect your ability to complete your studies.

  • Work rights verification: We will confirm that you have the legal right to work in Australia once you are qualified.
  • Vaccination status checks: We will confirm that you have the required vaccinations to be placed in and work in our centres once you are qualified.
