About the Role:

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist to join the Strategic Investment & Clinical Care Medical Physics team and lead quality improvement initiatives, technique development & implementation, and collaborations.
  
The Group Senior Medical Physicist will assist the Group Director of Medical Physics in working with the international medical physics teams to harness the collective expertise of the group and to then contribute to development and further implementation of new techniques and technology. Further, the Group Senior will also contribute to vendor based collaborations and research.
  
Icon Group boasts a vast network of over 30 radiation oncology centres across Australia, New Zealand, mainland China, and Singapore.  Technology in use includes fully featured Varian TrueBeam, Halcyon, and Ethos linear accelerators with add on features such as HyperArc, SGRT, Brainlab Exactrac, iCBCT, perfect pitch couchtops and so on.  Treatment planning is completed across our various Aria / Eclipse databases and we utilise the latest calculation and optimisation algorithms.  Icon also utilises Elekta linear accelerators and Mosaiq databases at a number of sites, and a number of sites also have Brachytherapy programs and superficial programs.     
  
This is a full-time permanent role that reports to the Group Director of Medical Physics.  The role location is flexible and can be based at an Icon Cancer Centre site across Australia but will be required to attend our sites as needed in order to work with the medical physics teams and the technology to be implemented.   A generous salary package is available. 
  
About the person we are going to hire:
The successful applicant will be highly motivated with a positive and enthusiastic attitude. You will be required to take on an integral role in the operational management and leadership of various group wide projects and initiatives which will include travel to both our domestic and international sites.  Strong technical and project management skills are required, as well as a demonstrated ability to perform in a strong multi-disciplinary environment.  
  
The successful candidate may also be expected to offer occasional assistance across all current and future radiotherapy centres.
  
Essential Criteria:
  • Eligible for listing on the ACPSEM register of qualified medical physics specialists in Radiation Oncology Medical Physics. Please note, accredited physicists from the UK, USA or Canada are encouraged to apply. Icon has an active program to facilitate overseas accredited physicists gaining entry to the ACPSEM register.
  • At least three years clinical experience as a qualified medical physicist in an advanced radiotherapy department.
  • Strong technical skills and experience in advanced techniques and technology such as SGRT, oART, iCBCT, software development, and so on.  
  • Experience with advanced stereotactic treatments including SBRT and SRT (SRS is highly desirable)
  • Experience in managing the implementation of specialty equipment or programs.
  • Experience in leading projects and managing resources.
  • Demonstrated high levels of communication and interpersonal skills in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Evidence of contributing to/participating in in-house research and development projects
  • Proven ability to work independently to a high level of scientific achievement.
  • Capable of self-directed work and possessing excellent problem-solving skills.
