Who We’re Looking For
We welcome Registered Nurses with experience in Radiation or Medical Oncology, as well as those with backgrounds in high-acuity settings, immunocompromised patient care, wound management, or palliative care. About the Role
As a Registered Nurse at Icon Cancer Centre, you’ll provide nursing care to patients receiving radiotherapy, working closely with the Nurse Manager. You’ll assess, review, and implement personalized care plans, providing a high level of autonomy while still being part of a supportive team. This role allows you to build meaningful connections with patients as you support them through treatment.
  
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver patient-centred care to patients and their families, with empathy and attention to their needs.
  • Monitor and treat side effects such as lymphoedema or other treatment-related symptoms.
  • Uphold best practice protocols and clinical guidelines.
  • Apply your expertise in oncology nursing, maintaining current professional standards.
  • Assist the Nurse Manager with day-to-day operations.
  • Contribute to the implementation of new therapies, systems, and clinical trials.
Skills and Experience
  • Experience in Radiation Oncology Nursing is highly desirable.
  • A genuine interest in cancer care and a commitment to professional growth in this area.
  • Proven ability to support nursing within a multidisciplinary, patient-focused environment.
  • Current AHPRA Nursing registration.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, both with patients and colleagues.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining positive working relationships.
  • Experience documenting patient care and effectively communicating with doctors and nurse managers.
  • Willingness to learn and use various clinical administration systems.
  • Dedication to ongoing professional development and learning.

Located within St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital, Icon Toowoomba proudly provides radiation oncology services for residents of the Darling Downs and the greater Southwest Region, complementing the existing medical oncology service provided within St Andrew’s Cancer Care. It is a well-integrated, dynamic service with a strong focus on high quality, patient-centric care.
