About The Role
The Medical and Hospital Billing Manager is responsible for managing the organisation’s centralised medical and hospital billing function. This key administration leadership position works with operational teams, facilitating the delivery of a consistent, efficient, and accurate end-to-end billing process nationally.

This position focusses on optimising billing process and procedure and requires active and open communication with the Cancer Centre site administration, practice management teams and health funders. The role is integral to debt monitoring/reduction and timely resolution of billing queries with health funds.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Management of medical and hospital billing team leaders and centralised team.
  • Conduct performance reviews and facilitate development of all direct reports.
  • Build a training and support program that promotes a culture of excellence in customer service in the billing context.
  • Provide timely feedback reports of billing errors and rejections to respective teams and status of outstanding debts to the responsible person, ensuring they are followed up and actioned.
  • Ensure debt ledger levels are met in line with agreed departmental targets and reported on weekly.
  • Ongoing reconciliation of banking functions performed and managed.
  • Create and facilitate projects to transform Icon’s billing process and systems to increase accuracy and efficiency (ultimately reducing debt and payment delays).

About you:

  • Health industry experience including MBS & Health Insurance and extensive accounts experience in a medical environment
  • Experience with accounts receivable and general accounting function including reconciliations and month end reporting
  • Proven leadership experience and an ability to create successful, scalable process changes
  • High level proficiency in Microsoft Excel with strong analytical and numerical accuracy
  • Highly collaborative work ethic with a high standard of customer service
  • A practical understand of accounting policies and procedures
  • High level of attention to detail, well-developed organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to adapt working with multiple IT systems and adaptability to change
Qualifications: Health Care Administration (desired)
