Practice Nurse – Icon Cancer Centre, South Brisbane
  
We have an exciting opportunity for a Practice Nurse with a background in haematology/oncology to join our high-performing cancer care and treatment centre in South Brisbane (Mater Precinct). The dedicated purpose of this role is to provide direct support for our Clinical Haematologist, facilitating an efficient medical practice with a high level of support for their patients.
  • Permanent, Part Time (0.6 FTE). Set hours to match clinician (Mon, Tue, Thurs, Fri).

About the role
  
Reporting to the clinician and Site Manager, the key responsibilities of the Practice Nurse role are:
  • Manage and triage new patient referrals
  • Attend inpatient ward rounds with clinician and complete follow-up on any actions resulting from ward rounds
  • Be present for consultations as required
  • Hold regular meetings with clinician and ensure open and transparent communication with practice operations
  • Liaise with inpatient facilities regarding patients
  • Liaise with Icon staff regarding patients, treatments, billings, health fund applications and medication access program applications
  • Assist with completion of paperwork/letters e.g. patient travel forms, insurance paperwork
  • Be accessible for patients and their family and provide follow up on results, scripts, queries, side effects as well as issues relating to travel

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:
  
Qualifications/Registrations

Mandatory
  • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience and 2 years clinical experience in haematology/oncology nursing
  • License to practice as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
  • Current driver' license
Desired
  • Post-graduate oncology nursing qualification or working towards same AND/ OR
  • Post graduate qualification or working toward in associated business, specialist or therapy area
  
Experience
  • Stem Cell Transplant and Mobilization
  • Prior experience in administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and blood product support
  • Symptom Control
  • Demonstrated advanced level clinical knowledge and skills in managing patients with haematological and solid tumour malignancies in the ambulatory and inpatient setting
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and in a team environment and plan, coordinate and organise workloads and project work effectively to achieve quality service outcomes in a timely manner
