About the Role:

Our Radiation Therapy team is expanding to deliver additional services in Cairns, which has created an excellent new opportunity for a Radiation Therapist to join our team.

With the ability to work across two radiation oncology centres in Cairns; newly opened world-class Private centre, and the established Cairns Hospital Liz Plummer Cancer Care Centre, this is a very exciting role which will soon have access to two newly installed TrueBeam linear accelerators and SGRT with an expanding Stereotactic program and advanced IGRT, a brand new Halcyon with SGRT and comprehensive stereotactic capability, a Siemens Go.Sim and Biograph CT, and Eclipse TPS, to deliver exceptional care in an inpatient and outpatient setting.

This is a Full-Time 12 Month Contract position, working within the hours 6am to 6pm Monday to Friday. Continued professional development is strongly supported at Icon, with dedicated CPD leave and allowance for all radiation therapists, a national in-service program, and education/training advisors available to support career progression and aspiration. Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality, safe, patient-centred clinical radiation therapy planning and treatment delivery services that complies with all relevant safety and quality standards.
  • Maintain the highest standards of patient care and continually enhance the quality of service and patient experience.
  • Liaise with members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure patient needs are met in a timely manner.
  • Exhibit a strong patient focus and treating all patients and their carers with respect, dignity, and equality.
  • Support a high-performance culture that delivers quality patient care services through a patient centric and collaborative approach.

Skills & Experience:
  • Proven technical proficiency in radiation therapy treatment planning and delivery.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills that inspire the trust and confidence required to build strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and a commitment to, the delivery of high-quality radiation therapy services.
  • Ability to adhere to clinical protocols and procedures.
  • Understanding of the service delivery model within the private healthcare sector.
  • Demonstrable capacity to work effectively and positively both independently, and as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Current AHPRA Registered Radiation Therapist with QLD Radiation Use Licence.
